Description

Pipefish are syngnathids, closely related to seahorses and sea dragons. Some species like the Spotted pipefish live among seagrass and feed on tiny crustaceans, as pictured here. Another pipefish, the Wide-bodied pipefish can be found in the Onkaparinga estuary. All syngnathids are protected species in South Australia. This unique, handmade artwork sold during exhibition at the Onkaparinga Surf Art Exhibition in the summer of 2019-20.
